Every time I visit our blog I can't believe how much time has gone by since I last typed an entry. May was a crappy month for health in our household. Started with J.P. getting croup (harsh cough), then Carson caught it and it turned into RSV (upper respiratory virus) again. This time there was no hospital stay but we had to nebulize him very often to keep his breathing controlled and loosen his mucous. It took a few days for the cough to subside but then a bad fever struck and we spent every other day in the doctor's office trying to figure out what was going on. He wasn't eating, he was crying a lot and clingy, and couldn't go outside in the warm weather. So we were couped up for a 9 days before he broke out into Hand, Foot, Mouth disease. It is a virus that starts with a fever and then you get blisters on your hands, feet, and inside your mouth. That explained everything and he probably caught it from our visits to the doctor. Poor guy even tip-toed around cause his feet hurt.
Finally everyone is healthy and we've been busy exploring the Metro during this warm weather. We've recently visited Choo Choo Bob's Train store, the Como Zoo, lots of trips to Huber Park in Shakopee, went to a car show last weekend, and got out the plastic pools in the back yard. Carson is now obsessed with motorcycles and even got to visit Mankato for Bike Night at Uncle Jeff's Bar.
J.P. had his last day of preschool and is jazzed for summer. Plus, he knows his birthday is coming so that is exciting. We are heading to the NASCAR racetrack by our house with his family and friends to celebrate. Now the goal is to get him to understand waiting until July arrives.
J.P. and his younger boy cousins celebrated Memorial weekend by having an overnight campout under the stars. They pitched a tent in the backyard, watched an outdoor movie on our projector, and told funny stories under Nick's watchful eye. They eventually fell asleep after lots of giggling and talking about butts and poop, but were awoken at 5:30am by the birds and the sun. So it was an early nap day.
By far the biggest excitement around our neighborhood is when the ice cream truck shows up and the Kuchenbecker family thinks they won the lottery. Nick gets the most excited and gathers the family on the golf cart to chase down the music coming from the pink ice cream truck. Last weekend we actually visited him twice for double the fun. It's a rip-off what you pay, but it's all about the little things in life that make you (and your kids) happy.
