sitting up like a big boy

Cousin Daries visiting our house for the 1st time

My computer got a virus this week so I have been neglecting my Internet life. I miss email and Internet surfing since it's one of my only connection to the outside world while I am home with the kids. We had a nice weekend in Waseca last week. We took the kids to New Richland for a birthday party for Dave and Nick's cousin Mandi. We also celebrated Grandma Toni and Cousin Meg's birthday while we were in town. J.P. and Carson hung out with Daries at G&G Kuchenbecker's while Nick and I went out to celebrate Brandon's (a.k.a. Ogre's) 30th birthday. Much to J.P.'s dismay, his birthday cannot come quick enough.
It is funny because since I vented about Carson's sleeping patterns a few weeks ago he has turned the corner again. He has slept through the night since and now doesn't hardly use his pacifier. I am mastering the art of getting him to sleep without it. He seems to like the song "You are my Sunshine". It takes a few more minutes to rock him, but it is worth not having him bellar when the nuk falls out. He is officially sleeping on his tummy now and lays on his hands. He wakes up with hand prints on his face.

Carson is safely sitting up now and loves being able to play with toys while getting a good view of the action (a.k.a. his brother). He is also loving to play patty-cake. See videos. It is so sweet when they start doing something intentional like that and on cue. J.P. has realized that Carson likes his toys and is starting to pull things away from him. He will trade him for something or go get Carson his baby toy to supplement what he tears away from him. The good news is that we have lots of toys (thanks to all our relatives!) so J.P. will have plenty of options once Carson wants a piece of the action.

We were busy playing with all our friends this week. We went to the twin's house on Monday to play with another set of twins that we've come to know. Tuesday we had a neighbor over, who also loves trains, so that went well. Thursday we went to school and much to J.P.'s delight we were painting snow as a craft. He also likes that his teacher tells the 3 Little Pigs story with props. He asks me to tell him that story every night. We spent the morning today with Mallory and Meg since they were off school and Chelsea had to work. J.P. loved exploring Henry's terrain while he was gone. Mallory is over night tonight and they are busy jumping in the bouncer and watching Sandlot.

J.P. has been wearing underwear all week. Only pull-up diapers at nap (which actually stay dry) and of course at nightime. He wet through 3 pairs and pooped in his undies on Monday, wet 2 pairs on Tuesday and pooped again, was dry Wednesday-Friday, but is still not pooping on the potty. We try to catch him before he runs to hide and poop in the corner, but we haven't been successful yet. I guess he'll just get it at some point, but hopefully that is soon because it is like cleaning cloth diapers when he has a poop accident. Sorry to discuss bowel movements so much but this is my life. One day this week, both the kids wet through their sheets and outfits and pooped within a two hour span. I was a little tired of it all by then. Tomorrow we are off to the Children's Museum and to a real train yard in St. Paul. Yeh!
