I laugh every time I write the title for our blog because I have to look at a calendar to see the date. Ever since I started staying home with my kids, I have lost all sense of time and days. However, I always know when it's the weekend because Mommy is relieved to have extra sets of hands around to help wrangle these crazy kids. With Carson, it's not so much wrangling as it is holding, feeding, rocking, changing, and pacifing. It seems like his life is not so complicated but he's in the stage where he wants to be up and running with the big kids but can barely sit up on his own. We spend a large portion of our day with him standing and bouncing on our lap. On the other hand, J.P. does keep us on our toes and is always asking us to participate in racing cars, crashing monster trucks, reading books about trains, feeding his animals with the pretend plastic food, or looking for a snack in the kitchen. He is still struggling with the potty training but will always go when we take him. The #2 situation will be a little harder to conquer.
Carson is officially 6 months old and was a little off last week due to his shots at his checkup. He also struggled with a cold so sleeping was a rough. One night he was up from 1-2am and we finally figured out his diaper leaked and he was soaking wet. Ugh! He is way more spoiled than J.P. was with sleeping. I do a lot of cuddling with him to get him to sleep or to get him back to sleep in the middle of the night. I let him come in our bed because he loves our comfy mattress and warm room. With J.P. we were very strict about keeping him in his crib but I've lost my toughness and will since Carson was born. I heard someone on a talk show say that one thing their mother always told them was to hold your baby and rock them as much as possible, because one day they won't want you to or you won't be physically able. So I am trying to balance that advice while still not spoiling Carson too much.
Friday night G&G Kuchenbecker came up to babysit so Nick and I could have a nice dinner out. We gorged on food and I had two drinks. That was such a nice evening out. Saturday we went shopping and visited the MN Model Train Museum in Bandana Square. They have night trains on Saturday evenings where they turn the lights off and light up all the model train displays. It is really neat and depicts the Mpls/St.Paul train layout from the old days. J.P. really likes anticipating the trains comin' round the bend and through the tunnels. They also had a Christmas train on the tracks that was J.P.'s favorite.
Today J.P. had his first chicken wing at BW3. Looks like he's a fan. It is funny to watch such a small thing eat a chicken wing. After nap we went to watch cousin Ben play basketball. J.P. is a very good cheerleader but was eager to get out on the court. Ben got 3rd place and J.P. got to touch his trophy. Tonight I am camped in front of the TV to watch the Oscars. It is sad that I have barely seen any of the movies or nominees perform this year, but I still love all the glitz and glamour and movie stars.
