J.P. heading to his baseball lessons

Happy St. Patty's Day

Reagan Herdrich (Leah's daughter) visiting

Carson, J.P., Ellie, Reagan, and Evie

Visiting the Hot Rod Auto Show

I just can't seem to stay updated on this blog anymore. We have been busy tending to sick kids, visiting with grandparents, traveling for work, and playing outside. Carson had a 3-day hospital stay at Children's at the end of February. He had RSV and was treated with nebulizer, had to have oxygen for the first 24 hours to help him breathe, and they also suctioned out his lungs to clear the mucous. It was a painful 3 days of holding him down and hearing him scream during the treatments but he made a complete recover. All the nurses couldn't believe he was so big for his age. They weren't expecting to see such a big boy in a real hospital gurney when they walked in. He is a few inches ahead of where J.P. was at 19 months, and even grew 4.5 inches since his 1-year birthday. J.P. was also suffering from pneumonia at home so that made it even harder. We are now healthy, thanks to the nice weather and being able to play outside.
The boys are excited to have all their toys down from the garage rafters and Carson is loving to ride the golf cart. He has a major hissy-fit every time we have to come inside and it takes a lot of consoling (and fruit snacks) to get him to stop crying. Poor kid is afraid the next time he goes out there it will be more snow. In the last month we've visited the Hot Rod Car Show and saw the real Doc Hudson from the CARS movie, the MN Railroad Museum and rode on a caboose, and the Mpls. Car Show where we saw lots of fancy cars. J.P. is continuing his obsession with cars and monster trucks. He even likes to flip through the Auto Trader magazines to see all the muscle cars. He plays cars on the floor constantly and always has a race lined up. Carson, on the other hand, likes to mess up the cars and take what J.P. considers his favorite ones. Carson is really getting into things and climbing all over the house right now. Turning your back on him is not an option, or you will have a mess to clean up or an injury to tend to.
Leah brought her two girls, Reagan and Evelyn, to visit. Kristen also dropped in with Ellie and it was a great playdate. It was the first time we met Evelyn face-to-face. They are still in Philadelphia and are hoping to move back to the Midwest in a few years. J.P. enjoyed St. Patrick's Day last week and had a blast following leprechan footprints to find the pot of gold during preschool. He is also taking baseball lessons and really doing well. He does awesome at hitting the ball but is trying to learn patience with the catching part. One thing he is a pro at is sliding. Even if the ball is two feet away he finds a way to slide in and trap it in his glove. Must be a boy thing. All his pants are worn out or ripped in the knee from rolling and sliding on the floor so much.
Nick's Grandma's cancer surgery went well and she is hopeful that they got everything and won't have to get any chemo.
