Carson's new outfit from Grandma ToniWe have been very busy the last week. We headed to Waseca for Halloween and Ryan Hoffman's wedding. J.P. did good with trick-or-treating but we fought for a few days about how often he could have candy. He liked putting it all in his bucket and dumping it out. He's already forgotten about it and Nick & I have been helping ourselves all week. We tagged along with Grandma Sherrye's daycare kids to the retirement/assisted living facility down the street to show off our costumes. Then to Grandma Toni's to see cousin George in his puppy costume. J.P. helped Grandpa Lynn rake leaves in the backyard. We don't have any trees in our neighborhood so he thought that was pretty cool. Carson got to come to the wedding reception with us and then went home with Grandpa and Grandma. I was able to catch up with Susana, a Waseca friend that I don't get to see very often.
We had lots of help with the kids so Nick and I were able to spend two nights out enjoying ourselves. It felt so nice to be out on the dance floor with no children in my arms or no diapers to change (at least for a few hours). Unfortunately, we didn't get to bed until 2:30am and then it was daylight savings. UGH! We only got 3.5 hours of sleep.
Carson is having issues with blood in his stools so we are now using an expensive, nasty tasting formula to see if it's related to a milk protein allergy. After two weeks we will try going back to normal formula to see if the blood comes back. If it doesn't then we are in good shape. He is having horrible diapers and getting bad diaper rash from it. Unfortunately, he is not sleeping through the night right now because he gets a dirty diaper while sleeping. So we've regressed in the sleeping department for now. We have discovered that he really likes baths and laying under his playgym on the floor. It is fun to see them start giggling and reacting to toys.
George and Brigette are visiting from Illinois and were able to stay at our house Monday night. J.P. had a great time and they played cars the whole time. The weather was great and we spent a lot of time outside playing and looking for snakes in the field. J.P. caught a ladybug in our house today and preceded to pick it up and flush it down the toilet. Evidentally he saw Nick do this, as well.
p.s. Congrats to our friend's Jon, Sadie, and Landon Miller. They will be welcoming a baby boy next Spring!
