Mom and Dad had the night off last night as J.P. headed down to Waseca for time with G&G Kuchenbecker. We went out to eat and shopped for outdoor furniture. I think we stopped at 4 different stores and managed a quiet patio dinner at Crave. It gave me horrible heartburn but I enjoyed every bite. It is so nice to be able to pop in and out of stores quickly without J.P. along. He would much rather be in Waseca where he went to the waterpark and rode on Grandpa's train (think lawnmower pulling plastic train wagons). Plus, he really enjoys all the interaction with the daycare kids at their house.
We went swimming 3 times at Lifetime pool this week because the weather was so nice. J.P. is cautious enough that I don't have to worry too much but Brandon's boys are showing him some new moves that are sure to keep me on the run. He is sure celebrating turning 2 with some "terrible two" moments. Lots of breaking down about little stuff and wanting his pacifier when things don't go his way. It is supposed to be for sleeping only but he wants it a lot now for comfort. We are hoping to take it away after the baby comes but we need to get the initial "no sleep, constant changing and feeding" stage over with first before we take on that challenge. I worry that he is not happy when he goes through these breakdowns/tantrums but having seen all my nieces and nephews grow up I remember it's just a part of raising kids. A big lesson that Nick and I are trying to remind ourselves is that it is not our job to make him happy and give him what he wants ALL THE TIME. I guess that lesson will be more evident once #2 arrives. 8 weeks left by the way! Here's a cute video of J.P. and Nick in the backyard.
